2020 has seen the organisation – as with all other amateur music groups face the challenges of not being able to rehearse due to Covid-19. Each band has continued to do what they can with a range of zoom play along sessions, virtual quizzes, scavenger hunts, bingo and pub nights.
M4 have managed to continue with teaching in very small groups over zoom whilst M3 and a few friends worked on an excellent video performance of Sing!.
M2 and Comm Brass have managed to get together for some socially distances outdoor playing thanks to the loan of Tongwynlais Rugby club’s field.
M1 pulled together a fantastic funding raising video with the charity Touch Trust of Bring Me Sunshine, arranged by our very own Christopher Bond. They followed this up by a third place in the championship section of the Cory Online Brass Band Championship 2020 with some beautiful music and playing.
Members were proud to play the last post from their driveways and back gardens in their own communities for VE Day and even provided some door step entertainment for the Thursday night clap for the NHS.
The organisation was also proud to pay its respects with players providing the last post for number of very different remembrance Sunday services. M1 produced a very moving video tribute to remember the impact of world war two on Cardiff and to pay tribute to the members of the band at the time who served their country.
It’s not Christmas without a brass band and all of our different groups are taking part in various video projects to brighten up the festive period and round off the year and take us into 2021 when hopefully we can all get back together to make live music again…..
