M2 is a fourth-section band and rehearses on a Thursday night from 19:15 - 21:15. The band is a development band with a mix of experienced adult players and talented youth players.<\/p>\n

The band aims to give its youth players the experience of playing alongside experienced players and the more challenging setting of formal competitions.<\/p>\n

The band enjoys playing a wide range of test pieces and music and is moving from strength to strength, with a second place at the Welsh regionals in March 2023, securing a place in the Nationals.
\nThe band has been promoted to the third section for 2024.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Conductor Profile: John Murray<\/h3>\n

John has been playing piano since the age of 6 and trombone as soon as he had his second teeth. He served in the Welsh Guards Band for 10 years, and played in the concert band, dance band, orchestra, and fanfare team all over Europe and the U.S.A.<\/p>\n

Since leaving the Army he has conducted various ensembles and pit orchestras and now runs a music teaching company.<\/p>\n

His arrangements for brass have been published and have proved popular.<\/p>\n

Still playing Sousaphone in a trad jazz band, the challenge of conducting M2 is something he is thoroughly enjoying.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
