Melingriffith Community Brass is the latest addition to the highly successful City of Cardiff Brass Band organisation. The band first met in September 2013 and provides the missing link for those players who want to concentrate on concert performances rather than play in competitions. We specialise in performances in the community and support local charity events.
Working outside the constraints of competition means that we have a more relaxed approach to our music-making, but still strive to provide quality, highly entertaining concerts for our audiences. There’s also no real limit to the number of players we can accommodate, and we already have around 30 enthusiastic members, of all ages and ability, who attend our rehearsals on a regular basis.
We are very fortunate to be conducted by Jake Pritchard, a talented young tuba player, who has embraced the spirit of Community Brass. He ensures that our rehearsals are not only an opportunity to improve and make great music, but a chance to socialise and, above all, have fun.
Maybe you played years ago and would like to start playing again, or perhaps you just want to make music in a friendly informal environment. Whatever the reason, all brass players and percussionists are welcome to join Community Brass. We rehearse every Tuesday evening at 7 pm.
